MULENGA MUSONDA writes A MAN of Tanzanian origin is appearing in the NakondeMagistrates Court facing one count of burglary and theft. Amaan Fred Munkondya appeared before Resident Magistrate George Banda to answer to charges of Burglary and Theft contrary to the Laws of Zambia. Allegations are that Munkondya, jointly and whilst acting with other unknown broke into Maipopo Foster’s house and stole there in Blankets, Bedsheets, Kitchenware ,assorted clothes, Garden Chairs , K2,700 cash all valued at K10,000 the property of the said Foster. The alleged Burglary is said to have happened on 8th June 2020 in Nakonde district of Muchinga Province. When the matter came up for trial before Court, the accused person requested that he re-takes plea as he did not know what offence he was charged with. Magistrate Banda granted the application and read the charge to him to which he strongly denied. Court: Have you now understood the charge read to you? Munkondya: Yes. Court: How do you plead? Munkondya: I deny Court: Court enters a plea of not guilty. After entering a plea of not guilty the matter was adjourned for trial. Munkondya was remanded in lawful custody. The Sun
