Take covid-19 seriously – Chief Chiyengele
SANDRA MACHIMA writes ZAMBIANS must not underrate the covid-19 pandemic health guidelines put in place if the country is to win the fight, says Chief Chiyengele of the Mbunda people in Western province. Chiyengele said he had observed that compliance to the deadly virus was minimum and that people were carrying on with their business without considering its dangers to their lives. The traditional leader said it was time people acted responsibly and complied so that the country could win the fight once and for all and get back with the usual business. “If we follow well these guidelines, we will not have to record other new cases, but we will deal with the current ones until all the patients recovers.  “We commend the relevant authorities for the efforts put in place by ensuring that the country has recorded a good number of recoveries,” he said. Chief Chiyengele said has appealed to relevant authorities to also ensure all the chiefdoms were equipped with necessary materials that were used to prevent the spread of Covid-19. He said traditional leaders should engaged to help disseminate preventive messages of the pandemic in the remote parts of the country, to ensure total compliance to the guidelines. Chief Chiyengele said he was happy that preventive measures such as frequent hand washing were being strictly observed in his chiefdom. The Sun
