Three people have in separate incidents committed suicide in Nakonde and Mafinga  districts  in Muchinga Province.  Among the three is a 30 year old deputy head teacher from Monze district  in Southern Province, a 46 year old man of Muyomba in Mafinga and a 30 year old of Mukolomanga village in Mafinga district. Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Joe Njase confirmed the three cases of suicide to ZANIS in Chinsali yesterday. Facts obtained revealed that a 30 year old man who was identified as Micheelo Mambo also a deputy head teacher at Siblings School of Monze was found hanging on the ceiling board at a named guest house in Nakonde around 11:00 hours yesterday. Eng. Njase said the man arrived around 20:00 from Monze on July 12 and booked a room at a guest house in Nkaonde but was however discovered dead the following day by workers who wanted to clean the room. “At around 10:00 hours, workers wanted to clean the room, hence they knocked on his door but he was not responding. The workers gave up knocking and dismantled the locking system to the room and discovered that the man had hanged himself from the celling board,” he said. Police have since opened an inquiry file as the motive behind the act is not yet known while the body has been deposited at Nakonde urban clinic awaiting postmortem. Meanwhile Police in Mafinga have recorded two suicide cases involving a 46 year old man of Muyombe who hanged himself on the roof terrace of his house using a mosquito net. Eng. Njase said the deceased Temwani Chihana is believed to have had mental challenges for over three years as he had the habit of loitering at  the market place. Eng Njase said the deceased father reported the case to police after he found his son hanging on the roof terrace of their house in early hours of yesterday.  “Acting on this report, officers visited the scene and found the body was hanging to the roof terraces with a Mosquito Net around his neck and a physical inspection did not reveal any peculiar injuries, “said Eng. Njase. Police suspect no foul play and the body has since been given to the relatives. In still another suicide case, Police in Mafinga received a report of a 30 year old man, Mabvuto Kaonga who was found hanging on the roof terrace using a chitenge material. Eng. Njase told ZANIS that the man  had quarreled with his wife after he was asked to disclose the money he had after the sale of maize. He said the man got upset and chased the wife from the house but was found dead by the wife after she returned to the house a few minutes later to collect a blanket. “The two reportedly picked a quarrel which prompted the husband Mabvuto Kaonga now deceased to chase his wife from the house, however, after a few minutes the wife decided to go back and get a blanket, and when she entered the house she found her husband hanging from the terrace,” he said.
