Son, nephew main suspects in axe attack
LINDA SOKO TEMBO writes AN 87-year-old woman has been axed and sustained a deep cut on her head after an unknown person attacked her in Chalisa District, Muchinga Commissioner of police Joel Njase has said. Mr Njase said Albino Mwamba, the victim, was unlawfully wounded and is suspecting her son Patrick Kampamba 42 and nephew Mutate Simonde 23 of Chandamali village Chief Nkula to have been behind the act.  In an interview with the Sun, Mr Njase said the victim said her son and nephew suspected her of being a witch because she had grown too old. Mr Njase said that brief facts were that on May 18 around midnight while the victim was fast asleep in her house an unknown person threw an axe through the window of her bed room. “The axe hit the victim on the head and she sustained a deep cut. Ms Mwamba said she is suspecting her son and nephew who have been accusing her to be practicing witchcraft simply because she has grown too old,” he said.  Ms Njase said that the victim was rushed to Chinsali General Hospital where she had been admitted and was receiving treatment. He said a docket of the case had been opened and no arrest had been made yet and that investigation into the matter has been launched. The Sun
