Six people recover from poisonous Munkoyo
SIX people that consumed suspected poisonous local brewed drink known as Munkoyo last week in Kaoma District of Western province have been discharged from Mangango Mission hospital. Kaoma District Health Director, Idi Mwine, confirmed the development to ZANIS and disclosed that the six were discharged from the hospital after recovery. Dr. Mwine explained that the hospital is still waiting for sample results that were taken to the laboratory in Lusaka to determine the kind of poison which was consumed. He, however, said the consumption of the local brew led to the death of a 17-year-old, identified as Imanga Mutoleka who has since been buried. Last week on Sunday, seven people at Mangowa village in Chief Mutondo’sarea of Kaoma District developed diarrhoea and vomiting after consuming a local brew locally known as Munkoyo, which led to a death of a family member. And Kaoma District Commissioner, Kennedy Mubanga, said that the Police is still investigating the matter. – ZANIS The Sun
