SHOPRITE DONATES HAMPERS TO UTH
SIMON MUNTEMBA writes @SunZambian AS a way of ploughing back its profits to the community, Shoprite Zambia has donated over 100 baby hampers worth K40, 000 to the University Teaching Hospitals (UTH).The donated hampers were handed over to the UTH head of clinical care women and new born hospital, Mulindi Mwanahamuntu by Shoprite Zambia General Manager Charles Bota.Speaking during the donation, Mr Bota said that his organization with other partners had recognized the impact of the Covid 19 especially to postnatal mothers that were unable to prepare forthe birth of their babies. Mr Botha explained that the donation was part of his company’s corporate social responsibility during the Covid-19 pandemic.He said noted that several parents had lost their jobs and some with reduced salaries, hence Shoprite Zambia, saw the need to provide the necessities for the postnatal mothers to reduce the burdern. Mr Botha who was thankful that his company was still operating and making some profits despite many other companies shutting down due to the pandemic assured Zambians and the UTHmanagement that it would continue ploughing back to the community in which it operated from.He said similar donation would be done to UTH in December during Christmas time.And receiving the donation on behalf of the beneficiaries Professor Mwanahamuntu thanked Sghoprite for the gesture which he said would go a long way in lessening the financial burden theinstitution was faced with.Prof. Mwanahamuntu explained that the hospital houses the most delicate people and mostly costly department with regards to resources and the gesture by Shoprite Zambia will greatlyassist the vulnerable mothers in need of postnatal care.He also called on that other cooperating partners to emulate Shoprite Zambia and come to the aid of postnatal mothers in need.
