Chasefu, August 3, 2021, ZANIS—Senior Chief Magodi of the Ngoni people in Chasefu District has endorsed President Edgar Lungu and his running mate Nkandu Luo for the August 12 General Elections. Senior Chief Magodi said he will, together with his indunas, vote for President Lungu and the Patriotic Front candidates. He said the entire traditional leadership wants to usher in the PF leadership so that Government can continue with its development agenda. The Senior Chief said he is happy with President Lungu for adopting Thomas Mtonga as Chasefu Parliamentary candidate and will ensure that the PF government retains power after the August 12 general elections. “I pray day and night to see that Dr Mtonga being an intellectual, must be ushered into office despite being blind,” said Senior Chief Magodi. And the Traditional Leader has applauded President Lungu for trusting and picking Professor Nkandu Luo as his running mate. Senior Chief Magodi expressed confidence that Professor Luo will perform to the country’s expectations as she has saved in various government portfolios. The Traditional Leader was speaking when the PF Presidential Running Mate, Professor Nkandu Luo flanked by his Campaign Manager, Given Linda paid a courtesy call on him at his palace. Meanwhile, Professor Nkandu Luo said the adoption of PF candidates in the run up to August 12 general elections is an indication that President, Edgar Lungu wants every Zambian to be counted. Professor Luo said the adoption of the Chasefu Parliamentary candidate, Thomas Mtonga who is blind, sets a good precedence for the people with disability to excel and change the lives of people in Chasefu District. “Our adoption of Dr Mtonga is to highlight first of all his successes as a professional, secondly his successes as a lecturer at the University of Zambia, which is the institution that put together the critical muscle of this country,” she said. And the Running Mate Campaign Manager, Given Lubinda said they were in the chiefdom to introduce the candidates and receive some blessings from the traditional ruler. Mr Lubinda said the PF government attaches great importance to people who are vulnerable and marginalised in the country. “We would like to appeal to you your royal highness that as you speak to Indunas, your people, and these friends of ours who may come, please encourage them to have peaceful campaigns,” said Mr Lubinda. Addressing headmen at Magodi’s palace, former Lands Minister, Jean Kapata who is also Deputy Campaign Manager appealed to the Headmen to ask their subjects to turnout in numbers and vote for the PF.
