Put donated items to good use, health ministry advised
SANDRA MACHIMA writes HEALTH authorities must ensure to put the donated items to good use so that they can reach the intended people in the fight against Covid-19 period, says Msanzala member of Parliament Peter Daka. Mr Daka said doing that would help efforts put in place by the government to reach all Zambians regardless to location. The lawmaker said the fight against the virus had intensified in Lusangazi district in his Constituency to ensure every citizen adhered to guidelines. Mr Daka said he expected all the items that were donated and made available to his constituency to be shared to all the 14 health facilities doted around the district. Among the items donated, were disinfectants, granular Chlorine, face masks, boots, gloves, which he he said, must reach the intended beneficiaries. Mr Daka emphasised on the need for people in his constituency not to relent on observing the health guidelines such as washing   hands frequently with soap, social distancing,  avoiding crowded places, wearing masks and no shaking hands when greeting each other. “This diseases is in Zambia and we are doing everything possible to prevent any further spread of the pandemic. And with these donations, we want to ensure everyone is accommodated and all the members of the community use them accordingly,” he said. Mr Daka informed his electorates that the government was working hard to curb the further spread of the virus. “Our President is with everyone on the fight against Covid-19, you have seen him frequently addressing the nation on the issue and the Health Minister, Dr Chitalu Chilufya updates the nation on the cases, so that everyone, including you people in rural areas, are well informed, ” he said.
