Prisca Chilufya heads to Kazakhstan
MOSES MWANZA writes @SunZambian RED Arrows Women Football Club speedy winger Prisca Chilufya has left for Kazakhstan were she is expected to sign a professional contract with Kazakh Women’s League defending Champions BIIK Kazygurt. Chilufya will team up with country mate Rachel Kundananji who is already on the books of the Shkyment based team who are competing in the UEFA Women’s Champions league. She will be the latest Zambian woman footballer to ply her trade outside the country. Meanwhile, the Zambia national women team, Equatorial Guinea, and the Falcons of Nigeria are expected to participate in this year’s Turkish Cup invitational tournament. The three African teams, including will be part of the eight nations to vie for glory in the fifth edition of the invitational tournament to be held from February 15-24 in Antalya. Besides the three African sides, other potential participating countries are Ukraine, Serbia, India, Bulgaria, Uzbekistan, barring late withdrawals and postponement due to the Covid-19 outbreak. While the 10-day tournament will serve as a pre-Olympic test for Bruce Mwape’s side, the Super Falcons and the Nzalang Nacional will be gearing up for 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations. According to Goal.com Nigeria, Zambia, and Equatorial Guinea along with Uzbekistan are zoned in the same group for this year’s event. The Super Falcons will launch their campaign against the Copper Queens, while Nzalang Nacional will face off with Uzbekistan in their respective opening matches at Gold City Sports Complex. Bruce Mwape and the Copper Queens will use this tournament as part of their preparations for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
