KABOMPO – A Zambia Police Officer has shot himself dead.29 year old, Justine Shiloto, of Mapulanga Village in Chief Bundabunda’s Chiefdom of Chongwe district in Lusaka, is believed to have shot himself in the chin with an AK47 assault rifle whilst on duty at Kabompo police station in Northwestern Province.Provincial Police Commissioner, Elias Chushi has confirmed the incident in a media statement to ZANIS, saying the matter is currently under investigations.Mr Chushi disclosed that the officer died on the spot after he allegedly shot himself on Tuesday, November 17th, 2020, around 15:00 hours at the police station’s inquiries section.“Please be informed that, police in Solwezi are investigating a shooting incident which occurred on Tuesday, Novem-ber 17th,2020, at Kabompo Police Station, in which a Police Officer, Shiloto Justine allegedly shot himself with an AK47 Rifle and died on the spot.” Mr. Chushi said in a statement.Meanwhile, Kabompo District Commissioner, Patrick Kasoka, who confirmed receiving the report, has described the in-cident as unfortunate, saying the officer was one of the new recruits who was very young in the service.The body of the deceased is currently in Kabompo district hospital mortuary awaiting burial.- ZANIS
