PMRC remains committed to providing policy analysis
BUUMBA CHIMBULU writes @SunZambian THE Policy Monitoring and Research Centre (PMRC) remains committed to continue providing policy analysis to compliment the Government in the pursuit of prudent macroeconomic policies which will stabilise the economy. PMRC Board Chairman, Margaret Mwanakatwe, said the research institute was committed to continue providing policy analysis to compliment the Government in the pursuit of prudent macroeconomic policies, increasing the economy’s resilience to shocks, and achieve higher and inclusive growth. Ms Mwanakatwe said PMRC remained committed to continuously work towards supporting Government institutions, agencies and development partners in developing evidence-based policy recommendations for the effective delivery of the national development agenda. “With this pledge, we will continue to partner with all like-missioned institutions to bolster our efforts and work towards encouraging debate on social and economic policy issues critical to national development and economic transformation,” she said in her New Year message from PMRC. Ms Mwanakatwe observed that the year 2020 brought about several challenges for mankind and that all citizens had to adapt to new innovations of executing the mandate amidst challenges. She said the resolve that showed in 2020 should be an encouragement to all that amidst challenges and uncertainties, one could stand firm and be determined to achieve that which was plan to achieve.  “His Excellency, the President of the republic recently launched the Zambia Economic Recovery Programme as a springboard towards a new trajectory of growth and development for Zambia. “Fellow citizens, in order to ensure that the recovery programme is successful, we must all join our efforts and work towards realizing the vision that we have set for ourselves as a nation,” Ms Mwanakatwe said. She stressed the need to reflect on the several interventions that had been instituted with aim of ensuring that Zambia moved closer towards being a developed middle income nation by the year 2030.
