PHONE THIEF CAUGHT AFTER UPLOADING SEMI NAKED PICS

Mulenga Musonda writes@sunzambianA MAN who uploaded his half naked pictures on a stolen phone’s Whatsapp status has been convicted by the Choma Magistrates Court.In this matter Neagan Micheelo was convicted to four years imprisonment by Senior Resident Magistrate Idah Mupemo for breaking into a building and committing a felony therein.Particulars of the offence are that Micheelo on August 6 broke into Johan Mhone’s house and stole therein a Samsung Galaxy Phone valued at K6,000 the property of the named Mhone.According to the facts on record, Micheelo was apprehended after he uploaded his half naked photos on Whatsapp Status using the complainant’s phone and account that was still active on the stolen gadget.When he appeared before Court for judgment, the Court stated that despite the State relying on circumstantial evidence, the fact that his photos were found on him was one clear indication that he could have stolen the phone.Magistrate Mupemo was convinced that the State had proved their case to the required standard and as such she convicted Micheelo.Public Prosecutor Dexter Kwalela further proved to the Court that Micheelo was a second offender by bringing forward the Clerk of Court Cyril Hibajene to produce his past conviction record .Magistrate Mupemo in passing the 4 years imprisonment with hard labour stated that Micheelo is a misfit to society who even after tasting prison could not change his ways.
