By JACKSON MAPAPAYI ABOUT 7, 765 people were vaccinated against Covid-19 in the first phase of the exercise across the North-Western Province, Permanent Secretary Willies Mangimela has said. Mr Mangimela said that out of the total number, only a handful tested positive. “And from a few that tested positive, only one required admission and unfortunately the patient passed on,” he said. He was speaking during the launch of the second phase of the AstraZeneca vaccination exercise in Solwezi yesterday. Mr Mangimela said all the districts had received the dose and that members of the public were free to go for vaccination at any vaccination site. Solwezi General Hospital Medical Superintendent, Namwaka Mukunyandela, said health authorities in the district had put in place a system to alert people on dual dates for vaccination through Short Messaging System (SMS). Dr Mukunyandela advised people to wait until they receive a SMS for them to go for the second dose. In March this year, Government through the Ministry of Health launched the AstraZeneca vaccination exercise.
