NO AMNESTY FOR MUKULA DEALERS, KAPATA MANTAINS
By PETER SICHALIGOVERNMENT has no intention of giving amnesty to Mukula traders to export legally harvested logs, Lands Minister Jean Kapata has declared.Ms Kapata said Government in 2018 gave six months amnesty to traders to export all legally harvested Mukula.Ms Kapata said continued calls for amnesty were an indication that people were still illegally harvesting Mukula trees. She said Government would not allow traders to export Mukula logs because the trade was abused in the past. The minister advised that traders who still had legally harvested Mukula, should instead sell their logs to the Zambia Forests and Forestry Industries Corporation (ZAFFICO).“Government gave enough amnesty in 2018 and we have no intentions. Therefore, we will not allow export of Mukula,” Ms Kapata said.Ms Kapata said Government through the Industrial Development Corporation had given the mandate to ZAFFICO to buy and export legally harvested Mukula logs.
