Nkana FC’s blessings, successes are not accidental
Dear Editor, IN the spirit of “God loves cheerful givers,” the Nkana Midlands Bureau took the opportunity of the festive season to join hands with Tomorrow Investments Limited to donate replica jerseys to City of Hope Girls Centre, St. Bonaventure, Lusaka. On arrival at the centre, the Midlands Bureau representatives were very well received by Sr. Prisca Mwila and her buoyant team of Catholic nuns and the girls. City of Hope heartily sang songs of praise and success for Nkana FC. They prayed for the club and wished the team God’s protection and blessings in all its endeavours. City of Hope grabbed the opportunity to share experiences of their recent participation in a tournament in Spain at which well-established girls’ soccer teams from around Europe, South America, and Asia also participated. Bubbling with confidence due to their recent European experience, City of Hope took the opportunity to send a message to Kitwe-based Nkana Queen’s and sound a challenge for a soccer match to be played as a prelude to one of Nkana FC’s games against Lusaka-based premier division opponents. The City of Hope Centre looks after vulnerable girls (mainly) from surrounding communities, some of whom are in boarding and others on day-release. Managed by the Catholic Church, City of Hope Centre offers primary school, secondary school, life skills development, and TEVETA accredited tertiary training. The donation of Nkana replica’s to City of Hope Girl’s Centre is part of the Nkana Midlands Bureau outreach and supporters mobilisation programme. The bureau was represented by the patron Chileshe Kandeta, vice chairman Jonas Simbeye, Grassroots coordinator Jack ‘Chilepule’ Mbale and ladies’ representatives Patra Kapembwa and Dora Ndubeni. In the last one month, the Nkana Midlands Bureau has also reached out to Fountain of Hope Centre in Lusaka where a similar donation was made. The Nkana replica donation initiative, which solely depends on well-wishers, is an on-going exercise and will extend to other Midlands Bureau Regions as and when resources to bulk-procure replica’s come through. The Nkana Midlands Bureau is a voluntary entity of Nkana FC supporters based in Western, Eastern, Central, Southern and Lusaka regions of Zambia. If you are in the Midlands region and wish to join, contact the Nkana Midlands Bureau Secretary Dalitso Banda on on 0979904600. Membership is K50 per annum. Subscriptions of K20 per month are also encouraged to meet the needs of the bureau like operational costs and hiring music systems on match days in the Midlands. For Nkana FC supporters from North-Western, Luapula, Muchinga, Northern and Copperbelt regions who wish to formally join the Nkana supporters’ fraternity, please contact the CB Bureau Secretary Skinner Moyo on 0967260011 for details. Compliments of the season to the entire Nkana family. Let us all join hands in wishing glad tidings, success, and victory for our team in their FAZ league and CAF continental matches. God bless, DALITSO BANDA, Secretary, Nkana Midlands Bureau.
