NDC SQUABBLES ERUPT AGAIN
NDC SQUABBLES ERUPT AGAIN NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC) secretary general Charles Kabwita has challenged Mr Joseph Akafumba not to masquerade as their president just to get a job from the new President Hakainde Hichilema. Mr Kabwita said the party was appalled by the lies and malicious propaganda that Mr Akafumba and his team were advancing in the past two days. “We have been informed that the President has apparently given his alliance partners two ministerial slots to share among them and there is a serious scramble for those slots,” he said.He said Mr Akafumba who is one of the people jostling for the two seats had gone into over drive to try and cause confusion in NDC and show as if he had people so that he could get one of the two seats. Mr Kabwita also commended President Hichilema for his stance on making appointments on merit. He warned the new President that people like Mr Akafumba just went to UPND at the last minute and wanted a lion’s share. Mr Kabwita said the UPND has had its own members for a long time and deserve certain positions. He said people knew that Mr Akafumba never had any real influence in the NDC and even now the structures were not with him. Mr Kabwita said Mr Akafumba first started by claiming that all NDC members had gone to join him when in fact not, then he faked a central committee meeting, calling for reconciliation. He dispelled rumours that their former leader , Mr Chishimba Kambwili wanted to re-join the NDC. “All these stories have come out in just a space of two days and all this just for Akafumba to secure one of the two seats for the alliance partners,” he said. Mr Kabwita said if Mr Akafumba was serious about a reconciliation he would have called the NDC president Ms Saboi Imboela or the vice president Mr Ackson Kaonga than buying off junior members of the party. He said Mr Akafumba was a father of confusion and hoped that President Hichilema would give him a job soon so that he stopped masquerading as NDC leader. By ADRIAN MWANZA
