NDC READY FOR PF ALLIANCE – KAMBWILI
By SIMON MUNTEMBA WE have no problem working with the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) because the party is not in any alliance at the moment, NDC president Chishimba Kambwili has said. Mr Kambwili said it was actually an insult to insinuate that the NDC was in alliance with the UPND whose leaders are self-centred.  Mr Kambwili said this yesterday in Lusaka when he attended the PF elective general conference. Asked whether his attending the PF conference was an indication that he was now working with the ruling party, Mr Kambwili said “there is nothing wrong to work with PF.” “To those who want to speculate, let them speculate. Besides, what is wrong if I decide to work with PF? The NDC will have a national conference next week and if members of the central committee and I decide to work with PF, so be it,” he said. Asked if his party was not in alliance with UPND, Mr Kambwili said, “we are not in an alliance with the UPND, in fact, that is an insult.” Meanwhile, speaking at the same event, Economic and Equity Party (EEP) president, Chilufya Tayali castigated Lusaka-based lawyer, Kelvin Bwalya Fube (KBF) for claiming that the PF general conference was an illegality. Mr Tayali who commended PF for its democratic tenets said Mr Fube was a “lost soul.” He advised Mr Fube to humble himself and plead for forgiveness from President Lungu and the party leadership like Mr Kambwili. He accused Mr Fube of being egocentric and boastful, a situation which has made him to stop thinking properly. Mr Tayali said it was unfortunate that Mr Fube was trying to fight the wish of many PF members who wanted President Lungu in vain. “Ba KBF is totally lost and I sympathise with him. I wsh he could humble himself like ba Kambwili,” Mr Tayali said. Meanwhile, Mr Kambwili has appointed his party spokesperson, Saboi Imboela as acting vice president. In a letter dated 9th April 9, 2021, Mr Kambwili congratulated Ms Imboela and told her that she will continue being the party spokesperson as well as vice president. Mr Kambwili also urged Ms Imboela to work hard and mobilise the party in all corners of the country. He emphasised that the NDC had gone through a rough patch in the recent past and there was need to have focused and dedicated leaders who would propel the party to the next level.
