In this matter Ligoleni received a 6 months’ imprisonment sentence but suspended for 12 months by the Court. The Court further ordered that the businesswoman be deported to her country of origin forthwith. Particulars of the offence are that Ligoleni, on January 28 being a Namibian National entered Zambia through the Katima Mulilo Border control without appearing before immigration authorities. When she appeared before Court to take plea, Ligoleni who admitted the charge and explained that she took it for granted as Zambians and Namibians in Sesheke and Katima Mulilo cross borders without permits. She said she went to Livingstone to buy her supplies and later proceeded to Lusaka, but was apprehended on her way back in Choma. According to the Facts stated by Public Prosecutor Pearson Chilumbu, Ligoleni was apprehended in Batoka aboard a public transport vehicle by immigration officers after mounting a check point.
