MUKOBEKO MURDERS A WAKE-UP CALL – BIGOCA
By NAMO PHIRI USE the case of the Mukobeko murders as a lesson not to trust anyone 100 percent, Zambians have been  advised. Bible Gospel Church of Africa (BIGOCA) Archbishop  overseer Dr Peter Ndhlovu also advised the Zambia Correctional Services to  review the system of handling inmates with a violent background. Speaking in an interview, Bishop Ndhlovu said the recent case where inmates raped and killed nine women should be a wake-up call for Zambians and correctional officials. “The heart of man is so deceitful, how can we know it. The issue of the inmates who were killing people is a wakeup call.  “In any situation when something happens it becomes a wake-up call not to trust anyone  100 percent. Inmates cannot be trusted and what happened is a lesson. I believe that even the officers at the correctional facility have  learnt a lesson,” he said. Bishop Ndhlovu said however that officers should not be blamed, but they should realise that people should not be trusted a 100 percent. “What this inmate has done is leading reduced  trust in others who are genuine because this was a man who was a trustee. “The officers from the correctional service trusted him, that’s why he was even able to be sent out. What these men did has led to trust being lost even on those who have been pardoned and are in the community,” he said Bishop Ndhlovu was commenting on a matter where two inmates at Kabwe’s Mukobeko Maximum Correctional  and Medium Correctional Facilities allegedly raped and murdered nine women. The victims were  buried in shallow graves in an area around the correctional facility farm.
