TERENCE MISELO Writes Mufulira-based artiste and music distributor Jilt Boy for Jilt Boy music has released a new single titled ‘Chi Devil’ featuring The Dope Boys. “My new song “Chi Devil” talks about the current situation where as a country and world, we are being attacked by the evil spirits of Corona Virus and other issues,” he says. ‘Though the song is a club and danceable, It talks about the devil being a big liar and we need to put God first especially in this trying moment. Devil should move out this evil spirit of Corona Virus out of Zambia.’ And Jilt Boy has advised online music providers and bloggers to help promote Zambian music by freeing the songs from carrying taglines or identities which he says limits the song from spreading worldwide. “The musical website owners in Zambia are killing Zambian Music. Why am I saying so?” he asks. “They like putting noise tags/logos in every song they upload. The same tags they include in every song is the reason our music is not getting enough airplay in other countries, they should change this habit because Zambian music will never be appreciated worldwide it will take some years.” He said they should also stop uploading music on their platforms for the sake of hype and without artiste’s concern or permission. “As an artist/blogger, I have seen and observed that in Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, America and other countries, bloggers don’t include noise tags. That’s why music from these countries are taking over on every radio station. Professional DJs will never play a song with a website tag weather its a hit or not, a DJ will look for a clean version of a song,” he advises. “My musical website where I distribute not only my music but entire Zambian Music, I’ll never include a website tag/logo on song so that even a Radio DJ from any country can easily play Zambian Music On-Air.”
