By ADRIAN MWANZA MORE patients have been discharged than admitted in two consecutive days, Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary for Technical Services Kennedy Malama has said. Dr Malama in a press statement said the development was a good indicator and that for the first time in over 20 days, there was less than 1, 000 patients admitted in Covid health facilities countrywide. He said that in the last 24 hours, the ministry had recorded 1, 013 new confirmed Covid-19 cases out of the 5, 125 cases with a 20 percent positivity rate bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases recorded to 176, 742. “For the second consecutive day, we discharged more patients than we admitted, a good indicator of what is going on in our communities,” Dr Malama said. Dr Malama said the cumulative vaccinations to date stood at 155, 219 while active Covid cases stood at 11, 636  country wide with 10, 674 (92 percent under community management and 962 (eight percent) admitted to isolation facilities. He said despite the national positivity rate remaining high there was some reduction with five out of the 10 provinces reporting a positivity between 14 and 18 percent while the other five have a positivity of above 20 percent.
