Government has released over K 1, 500,000 for Social Cash Transfer beneficiaries in Milenge District.Milenge District Commissioner Kunda Chibilo who confirmed the development in an interview said the money is for the January and February 2020 transfers.Speaking in an interview with ZANIS, yesterday, Mr. Chibilo disclosed that 733 more beneficiaries had been added to the social protection programme in the district.Milenge currently has a total of 7,333 beneficiaries.The money will alleviate poverty in the area especially in the wake of floods that led to some beneficiaries losing their crops, said Mr Chibilo.The district commissioner has urged pay point masters to take precautionary measures against the corona virus when disbursing funds to beneficiaries.He added that the payments would be done from schools and officers would utilise hand washing facilities at particular schools. -ZANIS
