Meet Sean: the man with passion for TV
TROY MUKUPA Writes He has proven time and again that he is a man of many talents both in film and TV production. Whether it is production, acting, writing or editing, his work has been known to be of the highest quality and notable ones on the list including two famously followed local TV series, Zuba and Mwine Mushi. Born Sean Imas Mulite in Lusaka, he did his Primary education at Matero Primary School and later moved to Chibombo High School for his secondary education. After completing, he enrolled at Evelyn Hone College to pursue film production and later did Human Resources and Business Management at the University of Zambia. “I was born and raised in Lusaka. The love for film has always been there in me but I never knew that I would be in it this serious. After secondary school, I decided to enroll at Evelyn Hone collage to pursue film production. My passion for film and TV production became more serious and interesting when I got employed by Muvi TV in 2008,” he said. “While at Muvi TV, I enrolled at EDCON Retail Academy to study Retail Business Management in Johannesburg, South Africa and later enrolled for a production program with Super Sport in outside TV Broadcasting, and had a privilege to be part of the team which produced and edited the Bola Ya Zed soccer show.” He said he left Muvi TV and joined EDCON Retail Company as manager. “I didn’t stay much at EDCON. I left and enrolled for studies in Documentaries Film production with American Film showcase, and went back to TV production. I do acting but I’m more of a Producer, director and Editor,” explains Sean. He said he relocated to the Copperbelt where he wrote, produced and directed a crime drama movie called “Diamond Trail” in which he also acted in. He also acted in a movie called Go Get Justice where he played the role of a lawyer. Currently Sean works as an editor on the production of Zuba which airs on Zambezi Magic. When asked what challenges the Zambian film industry is facing to make a permanent mark on the international map, Sean said the biggest challenge is the market for content. He said there are a lot of producers with good content but where to sell was the challenge the content is still a problem. “There are a lot of producers coming with good content but where to sell it and get monies worth their effort is kind of limited. Right now, it’s only Zambezi Magic doing that but still can’t suffice for all the independent producers coming with good content,” said Sean. The Sun
