MECHANIC’S THEFT CASE ADJOURNED AGAIN

RABECCA BANDA writes Trial in a case of a Lusaka businessman accused of stealing car parts worth K50,000 has failed to commence at the magistrates court after unexpectedly the prosecutor  told the magistrate that the matter had been taken to her superior for legal opinion. This was when the matter came up for commencement of trial yesterday. Particulars of the offence were that Cliff Simbule 50 of Chilenje allegedly  to  stole car parts from his client, Chrisantos Changwereza’s car between 16 July 2019 and November 13 2019. Simbule is accused of stealing one motor vehicle maffira, a computer box, key set, radiator, number plate, saddle, inside black grill, burner heat cooler and other parts all worth K50,000. The Public prosecutor told Magistrate Betty Malupenga that the witnesses were present but trial could not commence as the matter had gone to her superior l for legal opinion and therefore asked for an adjournment. Simbule took plea on March 2, 2020 and since then trial has not commenced as the matter has been adjourned each time it came for various reasons.
