MULENGA MUSONDA writes@sunzambianA 30 years old man of Choma will toil for 5 years for stealing two herds of Cattle from his Aunty.This was in a matter in which Henoli Muleya was convicted by the Choma Magistrates Court for Stock Theft Contrary to the Laws of Zambia.Particulars of the offence are that Muleya stole two herds of Cattle valued at K5,000 the property of Gloria Mweemba.The theft happened 22 September in Choma District of Southern Province.When he appeared for plea before Magistrate Muyambango Munukayumbwa, he without hesitation admitted the charge read to him.According to the Facts stated by Senior Public Prosecutor Alex Syulikwa, the accused was apprehended red handed with the Carcass and one live animal.After the Facts were read to him by the State through the Court Interpreter Munika Mwananshiku in Tonga the language he understood better, the accused person admitted that the statement was a true reflection of what happened.Despite being a first offender and readily admitting the charge, the Court informed the accused person that its hands were tied as the offence carries a minimum mandatory sentence.Magistrate Munukayumbwa thus sentenced Muleya to 5 Years imprisonment with hard labour with effect from date of arrest.
