A-40-year old Malawian national identified as Joseph Mbewe of Mkandaturnoff in Chipangali constituency of Eastern Province has allegedly been murdered by unknown people.
Mr Mbewe, who used to stay alone was found dead some few meters away from his house.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner, Luckson Sakala has confirmed the murder of Mbewe that happened on the early hours of Tuesday this week.
Mr Sakala said preliminary investigations showed that the victim was murdered inside the house and later his body dumped outside.
He said the victim sustained a fractured right jaw and shaking teeth after being hit with an unknown object.
He said when police visited the scene, they discovered some stains of blood in the house where he was staying alone.
Mr Sakala said the body of the victim was deposited in Chipata Central Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem and identification.
He said police were still investigating the matter and no arrest had been made so far.
