LUSAKA STILL PF STRONGHOLD – KAMBA
By SIMON MUNTEMBA THE Patriotic Front (PF) is stronger in Lusaka, and claims by South Africa’s University of Cape Town that it has lost grip is just propaganda to sway the people’s mind, says PF provincial chairperson, Kennedy Kamba. In an interview, Mr Kamba said the recent performance in the by-elections in the region was an indicator of how strong the ruling party was. He accused UPND president, Hakainde Hichilema, of having rushed to South Africa “to scavenge for something from some university friends and to try and counter facts that were published last week that President Edgar Lungu will win.” His remarks come after South Africa’s University of Cape Town’s Afro-barometer survey indicated that “identification with PF in Lusaka reduced by more than half between 2017 and 2020, while this doubled for the UPND from 11 to 19 percent during the same period.” Mr Kamba described the report as mere hallucinations aimed at swaying the people’s minds and urged Zambians to ignore it. “How do you claim that PF has lost support in Lusaka when it won all the by-elections held recently in the province? Mr Kamba said the PF was aware that there was unreasonable propaganda from the opposition, especially that next month the country is going to the polls. “The futile attempts of the opposition and the so called experts from South Africa’s University of Cape Town are mere hallucinations, wishful thinking and laughable at the  same time. “They are simply panicking because they know that President Lungu is sending someone into retirement after August 12 this year,” he said.
