A COUPLE of Lusaka’s Kamwala South Township has appeared in the Choma Magistrates Court on allegations of possessing counterfeit money. In this case Alex Kayombo, 31, a Businessman and his fiancée Memory Mulosa, 24, unemployed are charged with illegal possession of Counterfeit notes contrary to the Laws of Zambia. Allegations are that Kayombo and Mulosa jointly and whilst acting together were found in possession of 3 by K100 counterfeit notes all amounting to K300. The alleged incident is said to have happened on 26 April 2020 in Choma district of Southern Province. When the two appeared for plea before Magistrate Muyambango Munukayumbwa Tuesday morning, they strongly denied the allegations made against them compelling the Court to record pleas of not guilty. Court:Accused No.1 have you heard the charge read to you? Kayombo: Yes Court: How do you plead? Kayombo: I deny Court: Accused No.2 have you heard the allegations against you? Mulosa:Yes Court: Do you agree or deny? Mulosa: I deny. Court: I record pleas of not guilty in respect of both accused persons. Magistrate Munukayumbwa after entering pleas of not guilty granted the two accused persons K1,000 bail each in their own recognizance with two working sureties each to be bound in the like sum in their own recognizance. The matter will come up on May 18, 2020 for trial. The couple were remanded in custody until they meet their bail conditions. The Sun
