Lusaka boy in court for murder

RABECCA BANDA writes @SunZambianA Lusaka boy charged with murder has appeared before the magistrates court for explanation of the charge.The boy is alleged to have murdered Mwana Munyela kanukangu on June 17 2020.The 17year old boy appeared before magistrate Ruth Kapulo for explanation of the murder charge.However, before magistrate Kapulo explained the charge, he asked the boy when he was born and how old he is because the indictment showed that he was 19 years old.The said he was born in 2003 and he is 17 years old and lived with his parents.Magistrate Kapulo explained to the boy that he was appearing for explanation because the offence he committed is tried at the highcourt.She said she has not received certificate to commit the boy to the high court.She explained to the boy hat he will be appearing before after 14 days until she receives instructions to commit him to the high court.She told the boy to be patient as it might take long.Public prosecutor Mr Mwanza asked for the shortest date stating that the system has changed and that the instructions to commit him to the high could be ready.He said the changes are that before a murder accused appears before the court, the committal certificate must be ready.The court adjourned the matter to a shortest date for his committal.
