LUNGU’S UNWAVERING SUPPORT FROM KITWE’S KWACHA MARKET ELATES INCOMING LAWMAKER AS ‘BONANZA’ PROMISES TO DOUBLE HIS EFFORTS IN UPLIFTING THE LIVING STANDARDS OF THE RESIDENTS OF KWACHA CONSTITUENCY.
“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime,” is a quote from the Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu, founder of Taoism, and it best describes the relationship Mr Joseph Malanji continues to share with the residents of Kwacha Constituency. “I do not believe in handouts,” Mr Malanji tells this reporter. “They are not sustainable! The primary responsibility of a people’s representative is to uplift their standard of living through sustainable empowerment and that is what we have done in Kwacha over the last 5 years I have been member of Parliament.” Mr Malanji, fondly referred to as ‘Bonanza’, says it is an insult for any politician to assume that the National Assembly Office is a ‘Labour Office’ which should be used to secure employment and rush to Lusaka with toothpicks. “My passion to serve is evidenced by the number of Classroom Blocks, Health Posts and Police Stations we have cut Ribbons on. It is in empowering Churches and communities. It is evidenced by the revolving fund across all the markets in Kwacha Constituency. That is Money which nolonger belongs to me! It is for the Marketeers to manage, realize profit on and invest in more capital. It is also evidenced by our investment in the education of our people.” Records at Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, Kitwe City Council and Ministry of General Education show a list of Orphans and Vulnerable learners under sponsorship at different Schools in Kitwe but residing in Kwacha Constituency. The Kwacha Constituency Educational Support beneficiaries at CBU, Kitwe College of Nursing and Midwifery, ZIBSIP, Mukuka University and other institutions of higher learning has up to 77 Students under sponsorship to the tune of k441,682.25. Meanwhile, the full support record for Secondary School beneficiaries has 99 pupils at both government and private schools including Kitwe Boys, Helen Kaunda, St. Joseph Kalumbwa, Wesley Nyirenda, Valley View, Mitanto Secondary Schools to the tune of k499, 992.25.  – #SmartEagles2021 Commenting on the deadly COVID-19 which has claimed many lives in the recent past, Hon Malanji stresses the need for people to observe COVID-19 regulations during door to door campaigns as stipulated by government in order to mitigate the spread of the pandemic. And MCC Malanji continues to urge the general public to uphold peace as a way of honouring Zambia’s First Republican President, Dr Kenneth David Kaunda who stood for humanism under the motto, ‘One Zambia One Nation’ ahead of burial on Wednesday, July 7, at the Country’s Presidential burial site. #SmartEagles2021
