LUANSHYA MORNING MARKET GETS BOREHOLE
The Luanshya Municipal Council has opened a modern ablution block at Morning Market on the Masaiti-Mpongwe road in Kamuchanga area. The project has come with complete borehole and was reticulation system. Luanshya Mayor Nathan Chanda said the local authority was rolling out development projects, the latest being the opening of water and sanitation facilities at Morning Market at a cost of K300, 000. Mr Chanda expressed optimism that the opening of the ablution block, which came with a borehole and a complete and reticulation system would play a crucial role in addressing problems of inadequate water and sanitation facilities. This, he said, would curb the outbreak of water borne diseases among residents. “The ablution facilities is also going to benefit motorists and commuters using the Luanshya Masaiti-Mpongwe road, who will now have access to clean and safe drinking water, decent toilets, showers and hand-wash basins conveniently situated near the main road. “Luanshya Municipal Council is committed to delivering quality services to all residents regardless of their status in society,” he said. Mr Chanda appealed to the Morning Market traders and the local leadership to take good care of this ablution block. At the same function, Luanshya District, Patrick Maipambe, commended Luanshya Municipal Council for implementing a pro-active approach in addressing pressing social-economic problems.
