Kaseba says Zambia’s debt well spent

By SIMON MUNTEMBAFORMER first lady, Kaseba Sata says people talking bad about Zambia’s debt are being unpatriotic because the new infrastructure is worth the money.Ms Sata said people should look at the infrastructure development that was being rolled out across the country before commenting negatively about the accumulated debt.She said President Edgar Lungu’s development agenda was in line with the vision of her late husband, late fifth President Michael Sata.“I almost got lost when I came back because the roads that I found I did not leave them,” she said.Ms Sata, together with President Edgar Lungu yesterday led hundreds of people that gathered at Lusaka’s Embassy Park in laying wreaths at the grave of the late President.The PF founding father died on October 28, 2014 in King Edwards VII Hospital in the United Kingdom where he was evacuated for medical treatment.NDC leader, Chishimba Kambwili who was also present led other opposition leaders in laying wreaths.Meanwhile, Catholic priest Father Charles Chilinda urged politicians to emulate Mr Sata who sacrificed his life to work for the betterment of Zambians. Fr Chilinda said Mr Sata reflected the love of God because he was driven by concern for the poor and love for other people.He urged President Lungu to remain steadfast in ensuring President Sata’s legacy and vision continued.Among the dignitaries at yesterday’s memorial, were children and relatives of Mr Sata who were joined by cabinet ministers, Permanent Secretaries, PF members of the central committee, opposition political party leaders, senior Government officials, business executives and diplomats accredited to Zambia.President Lungu, who arrived at around 10:00 hours accompanied by the First Lady Esther, was received by PF Secretary-General Davies Mwila and a family representative of Mr Sata, Dr Chanda Kasolo.Speaking on behalf of the family, Dr Kasolo who is former Information and Broadcasting Permanent Secretary thanked President Lungu and Government for attending the ceremony.Dr Kasolo said he and other family members including former First Lady, Christine Kaseba were happy with the wonderful gesture and continued support from Government.He assured the Head of State and the ruling party that as Sata’s family, they would continue being PF members.“May I just reassure you and the party that as the Sata family, we recognise that my late brother (Sata) formed PF for Zambians, and not for the Sata family. And we have a home and that home is PF. Akanani kantu kali pabwali, ako akanani akali pabwali ni Pf, So be assured sir that we belong to PF,” Dr Kasolo said.Dr Kasolo wished President Lungu and the PF leadership that the spirit of Mr Sata would continue to guide them as they seek to fulfil the vision of being the pro-poor party.“The spirit of Michael Chilufya Sata, may it keep guiding you to achieve what you started with him. To be the pro-poor Government. We thank you again for all the support that you have given in various forms to various members of the Sata family at large.
