Facts of the matter before court were that on April 23, Lungu left the house around 08:00hrs, locked both windows and doors  but after a while she received a call from neighbours that her house has been broken into, she then rushed home and found some properties missing. On April 24, accused person was caught after seen boarding a taxi with the said properties wanting to run away with them. Magistrate: Did you break into the house? Chanda: Yes I did Magistrate: Did you stole the said properties? Chanda: Yes I did Magistrate: What did you want to do with the property? Chanda: I wanted to take them to Lusaka to sell them Chanda then pleaded for leniency saying he did not know that stealing was a crime and that now that he has known that it is an offence he will not repeat what he did. The Court said Chanda accepted the charge and therefore sentenced him to three years imprisonment with hard labour. The Sun
