‘Kabangwe residents under attack’

NOEL IYOMBWA writes AN UNIDENTIFIED body of a woman was on Monday morning found lying in Chazanga area near Jessie Mbanga School while man was found unconscious in the same area. One of the witnesses, Lombe Chiponge, disclosed that this was not the first time that a person was attacked in the area. He said that in the past one month it had become a normal trend to find someone attacked in the area. Mr. Chiponge said that lack of police presence was major cause in the rise in the crime rate. He observed that crime rates had reduced at the beginning of this year but that the situation was slowly changing. Mr. Chiponge has   advised the ministry of Home Affairs to put up a police post before more lives are lost because the only police posts were   Kabangwe and Chazanga police posts.. “You know the only police posts are at Kabangwe and Chazanga police posts but if you can see all these two are far from this place so  criminalshave taken advantage of the situation by attacking people even as early as 20:30 hours because they know that police don’t patrol the area. “Last year we had a number of similar cases but at the beginning of this year the situation improved but for the past one month we have seen a number of cases of people being attacked,” he said. Another resident suspected that some people are attacked elsewhere and later dumped in the area. She said that so far all the people who were attacked are not from within as no one identified either of them.
