RABECCA BANDA writes@SunZambianWHEN two boys operating a shop run out of goods, they decided the best way to solve the problem was to steal and stock up their shop. With this resolve, the pair on September 18 2020 robbed Mr Peter Simukwanga of his phone.Their misadventure came to light when they appeared before magistrate Nsunge Chanda for plea after being arraigned in court for rob-bery.Magistrate: Did you rob the complainant?Juvenile: Yes.Magistrate: What time did you rob him?Juvenile: It was between 20 to 21 hours.Magistrate: Why did you rob him?Juvenile: We ran out of goods in our shop and we decided to steal so that we can buy goods to keep the shop running.Magistrate: So you went outside at night to steal from people?Juvenile: We were seated at the shop and after we saw him walking and pressing his phone, we decided to follow him. One of us grabbed the phone from him.Magistrate: Have you been robbing people to maintain your shop?Juvenile: NoMagistrate: What did you do to him during or after taking his phone?Juvenile: We just took the phone and ran away. After we reached the shop and sat down, we realised he knew who were are.Magistrate: Was he owing you anything?Juvenile: Yes only that at the time we stole from him, we did not know who he was.Magistrate: So the credit had nothing to do with the robbery?Juvenile: No.Magistrate Chanda said although robbery was a serious offence, she would grant the two boys bail on condition that they do not move at night. She warned the boys to obey their parents and be at home at exactly 18:00 hours and that she should not hear that they were seen walking at night.Magistrate Chanda said told the boys that everyone has problems and wants money but stealing is not a solution The Sun
