JEAN KAPATA BLASTS DOOMSAYERS ON VEEP GIVING OUT MONEY

By NOEL IYOMBWA IT being petty for some “stingy” politicians to make an issue out of Vice President Inonge Wina’s generosity to share a little with Zambians, PF national chairperson for women, Jean Kapata has said. Ms Kapata said Ms Wina was not dishing out millions to warrant such attacks. She said being a senior citizen and senior party member, there was nothing sinister for the Vice President to give some PF members a little token. Ms Kapata said it was shocking that some people had made it an issue the recent giving out of money by Ms Wina in Solwezi. She said it was wrong for the opposition to make political capital out of everything at the expense of discussing serious issues affecting the people. Ms Kapata said Ms Wina should be commended for her gesture instead of being attacked unnecessarily. “If it was K800, 000 or so that is when you can say it is enticing voters or vote buying, but when the money is not huge then there is nothing because she is a senior party member who is supposed to give something to the party members and others,” she said. Recently, a viral video showed Ms Wina giving out money to some PF members and residents, a development which the opposition and civil society groups have described as corruption.
