By MICHAEL MIYOBAMINISTER of Sports, Youth and Child Development, Emmanuel Mulenga has hinted that in ten days’ time, soccer fans would be allowed to watch their teams from the stadiums.Speaking during the official launch of the 2020/2021 MTN/FAZ Super Division, Mulenga said it will be gratifying to see soccer fans being allowed to watch their teams from match venues when Super Division football returns this weekend.Mulenga said there is hope for fans to be allowed at stadia because the transmission rate of Covid-19 has reduced with the country having a record of five people infected with Covid-19.“The minimum transmission of the Covid-19 is actually nil at the moment and the update we were given on Tuesday by the Minister of Health country wide we have about five patients so the transmission of the Covid has been minimised so we need to make sure that we put in place rules for the fans to go back to the pitch and watch their teams“We are happy that football is back to action even under the new normal. We are mindful of many people who depend on football for their survival,” Mulenga said. The Super Division returns this Saturday with exciting fixtures lined up with Mulenga emphasising the need for strict adherence to the Covid-19 health protocols. He said government is counting on the guidance from the Ministry of Health to give guidance with the health precautions. And Football Association of Zambia president, Andrew Kamanga has urged soccer fans to be patient as they will soon be allowed to support their teams at stadiums while the early stages of the Super Division will be played behind closed doors.Kamanga hailed Multi Choice and MTN Zambia for the commitment to continue sponsoring the growth of the Zambian game.Meanwhile, Multichoice Zambia Chief Customer Officer Leah Kooma said Super Sport will increase the number of games to be televised in the new season from 91 to 135 games.Super Division sponsors MTN Zambia’s Seun Soladoye reaffirmed that MTN would continue to sponsor the Super Division after ten years of continued support to the development of the Zambian game.
