‘IM NOT SHAKEN’
By NOEL IYOMBWA I AM not shaken by the threats on my life because I know the sponsors, Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) president    Edith Nawakwi has said. Ms. Nawakwi confirmed that she was warned that she would be brought back in a body-bag if she dared to enter Bweengwa and accused the UPND of sponsoring people to attack her. She said she called off the trip because she was aware of how violent the people who threatened her could be. Ms Nawakwi who was in Southern Province to meet Patriotic Front members, said that before going to Kalomo, she was supposed to travel to Bweengwa but after being threatened she cancelled the trip. She however said she was not shaken but just avoiding trouble. “We decided to cancel the trip because I had an experience in Namwala in 2016. These are people who can even block the road when the President is passing, the people he sends are naturally violent. “I was threatened that my body would be brought back in a bag if I dared to enter Bweengwa as it only belongs to the UPND,” she said. She said it was sad that such threats continue to happen in a democratic country, adding the UPND leaders move to any part of the country without any intimidation. Ms Nawakwi challenged the UPND leadership to openly speak against the violence. She said that it was uncalled for that some political leaders think that a certain region was their own when they were free to go to other places without any interference from the people of the area.
