MULENGA MUSONDA Writes@SunZambian A 37 years old woman explained before the Choma Magistrates Court that she stoned her friend in self defense after her attacker attempted to stab her with a Knife.Fallacy Mvula of Choma’s Zambia Township is charged with Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm contrary to section 248 of Chapter 87 of the Penal Code of the Laws of Zambia.Allegations are that Mvula assaulted Juliet Mundenda in unclear circumstances and thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm. The alleged incident is said to have occurred on August 29, 2020 in Choma District of Southern Province. When she appeared for plea before Magistrate Muyambango Munukayumbwa, the accused person admitted to stoning the complainant in self defense. She told the Court that Mundenda charged at her with a knife threatening to stab her, so she used a stone that was nearby to defend herself. After listening to her explanation, Magistrates Munukayumbwa entered an equivocal plea of not guilty and adjourned the matter to September 24 for trial after Public Prosecutor Coillard Sikwalulwa applied for an adjournment.Mvula was remanded in custody.
