I DON’T REGRET, LEFT ON PRINCIPLE – BELEMU I DON’T regret leaving the UPND because I made a decision and left on principle, says Ephraim Belemu. Mr. Belemu said his decision to leave the UPND last year and join the PF was not attached to any possible job in the party. He explained in an interview that he has no regrets because the move was a political decision which was made in good faith. Mr. Belemu said he would not behave like some PF members who have within 24 hours of losing the elections are already changing course.  “As you may be aware, I joined the UPND at the point when it came number 3 out of the general election, I didn’t join at a time when it was flourishing, we worked hard and started growing the party,” he said. Mr Belemu said his immediate plan is to work with the outgoing President, Edgar Lungu as PF party leader during the transition period and his course of leading PF. He said that he is a very principled person and his close friends in the UPND understand the circumstances that led to him leaving the party because they are aware of how he makes decisions. Mr. Belemu said he is a full PF member and would continue working with President Lungu until he directs otherwise. “Beyond that he is my old friend, we went to parliament together in 2011 and now that we both don’t hold any elected positions will have a lot of personal interactions and meet life as it comes,” he said.
