HUNT FOR A KILLER?
NOEL IYOMBWA writes@SunZambianPOLICE have recovered a motor vehicle, Isuzu KB 250 a double Cab, registration number BAG 1966 which is believed to be for late Dr. Tasila Tembo.The vehicle was found parked at a named lodge in Mazabuka District, acting Police spokesperson, Danny Mwale said yesterday.Police launched a manhunt for the Lieutenant Nigel Mwaba aged 33 of Zambia Army in Lusaka in connection with the murder Dr. Tasila Tembo aged 47 of Plot number 1732 Meanwood, Ibex Hill went missing on October 24, 2020 around 16 hours.The suspect is alleged to have murdered Dr Tembo and dumped her body in Nanking Army Training Centre in Mikango area in a decomposed state covered with leaves.The body was temporarily buried at a traditional burial site in the area while awaiting postmotern Mr Mwale has appealed to members of the public who may have the information of the whereabouts of the suspect to report to any police station.Born on October 22, 1973, Tasila Mercy Tembo was third child of Beatrice and Fred Tembo and only girl in a family of five.She attended Mongu Primary and Holy Cross Secondary Schools in Western Province until she was done with her ordinary school in 1990.She proceeded to study Medicine at Institute of Higher Education of Julio Trigo – Havana, Cuba in 1991 and returned home to begin her career in 1998. Dr. Tembo joined the Civil Service on the September 5, 1999 as a Junior Medical Resident Officer and later posted to Ndola Central Hospital where she did her internship.In 2004, Dr. Tembo was appointed to the position of District Health Director for Mpongwe District Health Management Board and in 2006 upon completion of her master’s in Public Health, at the University of Pretoria she was posted to Roan Antelope General Hospital as Director – Clinical Services.She was later promoted to the position of Executive Director (Medical Superintendent) for Roan Antelope General Hospital in 2007. In January, 2011 Dr. Tasila Mercy Tembo was transferred to the Ministry of Health Headquarters as Deputy Director – Technical Support Services.In July, 2018 Dr. Tembo was assigned duties as Public Health Specialist at Lusaka District Health Office.In February, 2020 Dr. Tembo was seconded to Equip Zambia – Right to Care as Provincial Technical and Administrative Coordinator.She has therefore served in the Ministry for 21 years and leaves behind three daughters.
