Goalkeeper Alpha turns banker
TIM ZULU writes@SunZambian DESCRIBED as fabulously imposing, fearless and arguably one big, strong and reliable goalkeeper between the sticks with the safest pair of hands to his name, not long ago he was plying his trade with Eden University National Division One League Champions Indeni, but not anymore, as Bankers Zanaco moved in swiftly with a big fat cheque to open a 2 year account with the acrobatic goal minder Alpha Lukong.Meanwhile, enterprising Police College Football Club winger Abraham ‘Messi’ Siankombo has also entered into the accounting books of Zanaco and will be a member of the Marlon Kananda managed team at Sunset stadium. The former Indeni FC shot stopper, who was quick to thank his previous employer for the platform given to him, said that he cannot easily describe his amazing move to Zanaco.“Much as I am so excited to sign with Zanaco, at the same time am really overwhelmed. I don’t know what to say but only thank God for the talent and everything that is happening to me right now,”he said. The hard working 22 year old Lukong who spent a fruitful 2 seasons at Ndeke complex in Ndola said his move to sunset stadium will help him improve his skills further and that he is geared to help his new side achieve their set out objectives. “I love challenges but again I don’t want to put so much pressure on myself nor promise Zanaco fans heavens. I have to adjust to the new environment, new executive, new players and coaches with different aspirations and all that but in the end this is my job I need to adjust quickly and fit into the team (Zanaco) philosophy and prove myself equal to the task at hand,” said Lukong. The Bankers who seemingly had endless nightmares in the goalkeeping area last season may have reached the right ceiling with the notes of Alpha Lukong acquisition but only time will tell if the Congolese born goal custodian will prove to be that boom and bust goalkeeper for Zanaco. The 19 year old tricky left footer Abraham ‘Messi’ Siankombo, nicknamed after the Barcelona star Lionel Messi, was a marvel to watch for the Police outfit in the Eden league last season and it is clear why the man who has lust for young talent in the name of Chris Kaunda saw the huge potential in the lad and handed the deft teenager a sensational 3 year contract. The past few weeks has seen a number of Eden University National Division One league players signing for super league sides who have gone on the open football market attracting the potentially skillful young talent in readiness for the 2020/21 soccer season kick off set for 17 October.
