Girl sues Dad for failure to pay school fees
MARY PHIRI writes A 23-YEAR-OLD school girl, who had sued her father for failure to pay school fees, has dropped the charges against her father in the Ndola main local court. In this matter, Ruth Kwabe sued her father, Sam Kwabe, 47, both residents of Lubuto West Township for not paying schools fees for his four children. Ruth said recently her father had gone to court to get custody of his children after which he started mistreating them to the extent of telling people that they were prostitutes. Her parents divorced in 2014 and the court ruled the house be given to Mr Kwabe so that he could take care of the children. But Ruth testified that her father never gave them food and that she was forced to walk from Lubuto West to Ndeke Township to eat from her mother’s home. After suing her father, he later reported her to Police for criminal trespass, a charge for which she was detained for five days at Kansenshi Remand Prison. “My father reported me for trespassing at our house, it is not fair but I will leave it all to God,” Kwabe said. She told the court that if her father does not want to support her and her siblings, God will provide for them since He was the giver and provider. “I am a school girl and I am just tired of coming to court so I have withdrawn the case against my father. My father can give the money to whoever he wishes,” Ruth lamented. The case came before Ndola Main Local Court senior presiding magistrate Elizabeth Banda sitting with Jenifer Sakala and Barbra Changwe. In his defence, Mr Kwabe said his daughter was getting influence from the mother who was forcing her to sue him. The court advised Mr Kwabe to also drop the criminal charge against his daughter and that the family should sit down and solve their problems. Editor@1
