Police in Kalulushi District on the Copperbelt have retrieved  four bodies which were buried alive after the earth curved in on them as they were loading laterite in a truck at 7 shaft mine. Copperbelt Deputy Police Commissioner Bosswell Namuswa confirmed the development to ZANIS in an interview. Mr Namuswa said the accident occurred on Saturday at 10:00 hours whilst loading laterite at 7 shaft open pit in a tipper truck registration number AAR 134. “The earth curved in and buried alive four casual workers and two were retrieved and rushed to Kalulushi General Hospital for medical attention,” said Mr Namuswa. “The other two were retrieved dead” he said. He said police in the company of Kalulushi Municipal Council fire brigade visited the scene and found two bodies identified as Brian Chamfwa aged 40 years and Moses Kunda aged 27 years. Mr Namuswa said Chamfwa and Kunda of unmarked house numbers but both residing in Magum compound had sustained deep cuts on the head and bled from the nose. “Whilst two male persons, Kaputo Frank aged 22 years and Perfect Mazabuka aged 22 years were also buried and retrieved alive,” said Mr Namuswa. Mr Namuswa said the two men who were retrieved alive are from Nkana area in Lufwanyama district.  “The following injuries were observed, painful right leg, swollen forehead, painful right hand and a deep cut on the right hand, bruised left leg ,” said Mr Namuswa. The two retrieved alive have since been admitted to Kitwe Teaching Hospital, whilst the deceased are lying at Kalulushi General Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem. The Sun
