‘FOREIGNERS WON’T HAVE TITLE TO LAND’
FOREIGNERS will not be allowed to have title to land once the Land Policy is launched, Lands and Natural Resources Minister Jean Kapata has said. Ms. Kapata said Government would not allow the selling of land by Zambians but would regulate the leasing of land to foreigners. She explained that it was very difficult to control the sale of land and that stopping Zambians from selling their land would be unfair. Ms. Kapata was responding to Chipili Member of Parliament Jewis Chabi who wanted to know how many foreigners acquired land in the country from 2014 to 2019, during the Question for Oral Answer Session in Parliament yesterday. She said the Land Policy will be launched before parliament dissolves on May 12, 2021. Ms. Kapata said that in 2014, 32 foreigners acquired land, and 57 foreigners acquired land in 2015, She said the economic benefits for the country by foreigners owning land include technology and capital that they bring into the country. – ZNBC.
