RABECCA BANDA writes A Lusaka man has told the Magistrates court how smoking marijuana gives him energy to play football. Before magistrate Nsunge Chanda was Lapson Chama, 19 while jointly acting with others unknown trafficked in two kilogrammes of marijuana on 24 February. Facts were that Drug Enforcement Commission received information that there was a male suspected person selling marijuana at a makeshift store in Chibolya. DEC proceeded to the area where the found the accused selling marijuana in a plastic bag. Magistrate: Did you traffick in Marijuana? Chama: Yes.  Magistrate: why and for what use? Chama: I wanted to smoke. Magistrate: why do you smoke? Chama: Smoking marijuana gives me energy to play football. Magistrate: Do you play in the national team? Chama: No. Magistrate: If marijuana is good why are you not playing in the national team? Chama: Marijuana is bad. Magistrate: How long have you been smoking? Chama: I stared recently. Chama pleaded for mercy from the court saying he is sorry and has learned a lesson. Magistrate Chanda said Chama deserved to be published because the quantity of the drugs was huge.
