FASHION SAKALA JOINS GERRARD’S’ RANGERS
By MICHAEL MIYOBA CHIPOLOPOLO striker Fashion Sakala has joined Scottish champions Glasgow Rangers on a pre-contract from Belgian side KV Oostende. The Scottish champions confirmed in a statement that the former Zanaco and Nchanga Rangers striker has penned a four-year deal at the newly-crowned Scottish champions and will join up with his new team-mates in summer. “Rangers FC are today delighted to announce that a pre–contract has been agreed with Fashion Sakala, and he will join from Belgian side KV Oostende in the summer, subject to international clearance and work permit being received,” Rangers wrote on their twitter page.   And speaking after putting pen to paper, Sakala said he was excited to start this exciting journey with Rangers. “It has been one of my dreams, and I feel like this is a dream come true to join Rangers – one of the greatest clubs in the world. “Rangers have a great fan base and a great history, and I believe we will share great memories together,” Sakala said. Steven Gerrard said Sakala fits Ranger’s profile and has the attributes to not only thrive in Scotland but on the European stage as well. “Fashion is a player who we have been aware of for some time. We are excited to see him fulfill his potential under the coaching staff at Auchenowie and we look forward to welcoming him at the beginning of pre-season,” said the former England and Liverpool legend. Meanwhile, Sakala has penned an emotional goodbye massage to KV Oostende where he spend three seasons. “When the season ends, I will have to say goodbye to the club where I have felt the happiest.  It is time to open a new stage in my career.  After three years during which I have lived great moments, I can only thank everyone who is part of this great club: management, coaching staff and my teammates who have helped me so much.  I will never forget that they were the European club that believed in me the most,” Sakala said. Sakala has been in a decent form for Oostende scoring 13 league goals this season, a tally that has seen him on the radar of a number of clubs in Europe. He becomes Gerrard’s second summer arrival for the looming Premiership title defence as he will arrive at Ibrox alongside Nnamdi Ofoborh, signed from Bournemouth on a pre-contract in January.
