Farmer committed to High Court on fatal reckless driving charge
MULENGA MUSONDA writes@SunZambianTHE Choma Magistrates Courts has committed a 48 years old Farmer to the High Court to exculpate himself from allegations of causing death by reckless driving.In this matter Jairos Paswe was appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Idah Mupemo charged with Causing Death by Dangerous Driving contrary to the Road Transport and Safety Act of the Laws of Zambia.Allegations are that Paswe caused the death of Beatrice Moono along the Macha Chikankanta road when he drove a Motor Vehicle Registration Number AJB 911 in a dangerous and reckless manner with no regard to the safety of other road users.The incident is said to have occurred on September 13 in Choma district of Southern Province.When he appeared for explanation of the charge before Court, Paswe understood the charge explained to him by the Court through the Interpreter Luckson Sibalwa in Tonga the language he understood better.Immediately after the Court explained to Paswe that his matter is only triable in the High Court, Public Prosecutor Pearson Chilumbu informed Magistrate Mupemo that instructions to have the accused person committed to the High Court were ready.The Court praised the State for the improvement in making sure that instructions are issued pronto. She committed Paswe to the High Court forthwith and he will appear at its next session. The Sun
