AARON MUBANGA writes THE Kabwe Warriors striker says he wants to hit the ground running when the Zambia Super League resumes on July 18. Mwachiaba told the ZamFoot Crew in an exclusive interview that the players are overjoyed with the news of the league finally returning next month. The MTN/FAZ Super League has been on hold since March due to the Coronavirus epidemic. The former Zesco United and Buildcon forward has scored three goals including a spectacular strike against Lusaka Dynamos and wants to continue scoring and setting up goals in order to help his team. “It’s great news, this is exactly what we (all footballers) were praying for. We haven’t had a break so long away from football. We are very happy,” Aka said. “For me, I want to make sure I hit the ground running as soon as possible. I want to help the team as much as I can by scoring and assisting. As a team I think we want to do well in the ABSA CUP, I think that’s our main priority.” Aka is confident that the Magnificent People’s team can qualify for Continental football if they plan and train well during the 17 days given to prepare for the resumption of the season. “It’s very much possible for us to qualify for continental but it will all depend on how best we use this little time we have of training and planning well for the remainder of the games,” he said. Kabwe Warriors are currently 7th on the log with 38 points and eight adrift of log leaders Forest Rangers with nine games to go. – ZAMFOOT. The Sun
