Engage in growth ventures, youths advised

YOUTHS should take advantage of the youth empowerment programmes instead of engaging in political violence ahead of this year’s general elections, PF Copperbelt Youth Chairperson, Don Mungulube has advised. Mr Mungulube said the youth empowerment programme which was launched by President Edgar Lungu in August last year is an opportunity for youths to apply and engage in productive ventures. He urged young people to make use of the empowerment programme instead of being used to carry out violent activities in exchange for money. Mr Mungulube was speaking in Mufulira. “We encourage youths not to engage in any form of violence this election year because there is empowerment to keep them productive,” Mr Mungulube stated. Mr Mungulube said it was up to the youths to utilise the youth empowerment programme to improve their lives because Government has [played its part. He said there were some politicians that were planning to use the youths to foment violence especially during campaigns. Mr Mungulube advised the youth to be vigilant and only engage on activities that would improve their livelihood
